Pre-Licensing Class

MV-278 

The 5 Hour Pre-Licensing Course is required by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles for applicants who want to take a Road Test for a New York State Driver's License. The course consists of driving techniques, how to pass your road test safely, highway safety, drugs & alcohol. The course is open to the public. A NYS Learner's Permit is required as well as pre-registration.

Pre-licensing Five Hour Class MV-278 

Course Requirements

  • Students must have a valid New York State learner's permit at the time of the class
  • Temporary interim permit without picture is accepted to take five hour course
  • Students MUST arrive 15 minutes before time of class for registration 
  • Tuition fee is $40.00 payable in cash, or credit card at the time of the class

Course Completion Regulation

  • Certificate of Completion must be presented to DMV inspector at time of driving skills test
  • MV-278 Certificate of Completion serial number is required to schedule driving skills test
  • MV-278 Certificate of Completion is valid for one year from issuance date.
